CapabilitiesSizes and regions
Any size you like
Choose CPU and memory freely instead of picking from a short list of fixed sizes.
Short answer: 4 of 16 providers offer it fully: Modal, Morph, Runtime and Tensorlake. With a catch: Blaxel, Cloudflare Sandbox, Daytona, E2B and Vercel Sandbox. Checked 29 October 2026.
Who offers it
Part of Sizes, regions and hardware, which explains why it matters.
Fully: Modal, Morph, Runtime and Tensorlake. With a catch: Blaxel, Cloudflare Sandbox, Daytona, E2B and Vercel Sandbox. Not at all: Agent 37, Boat, boxd, InstaBox, Lizard, Sandboxer and Sprites.
Cores are counted as physical cores, and each one is two vCPUs.
docs-confirmed “The cpu parameter specifies physical CPU cores (1 core = 2 vCPUs), and memory specifies MiB” Source
docs-confirmed “To create a new snapshot, specify the resource specifications like” Source
Bounded at 16 cores, 64 GiB of memory and 400 GiB of disk.
docs-confirmed “At most 16 on a paid sandbox, 2 without credit” Source
Memory must sit between 1 GB and 8 GB per core.
docs-confirmed “allocate between 1 GB and 8 GB of RAM per vCPU” Source
The catch: You set the memory and the number of cores is decided for you, so you cannot pick a memory-heavy or core-heavy machine.
docs-confirmed “a sandbox with 8 GB memory is allocated 4 CPU cores, while one with 16 GB memory is allocated 6 CPU cores.” Source
The catch: You can set your own cores and memory, but only inside a ceiling of 4 cores and 12 GB, and each core needs at least 3 GB.
docs-confirmed “Minimum 3 GiB memory per vCPU” Source
The catch: You pick from fixed sizes, and anything different needs a custom limit arranged through support.
docs-confirmed “Sandboxes have 1 vCPU, 1GB RAM, and 3GiB disk by default.” Source
The catch: You can choose cores and memory, but only up to 8 of each; more needs a conversation with support.
docs-confirmed “Max memory” Source
The catch: You choose cores in steps of two and each core comes with exactly 2 GB of memory, so memory cannot be set on its own.
docs-confirmed “Each vCPU includes 2 GB of memory.” Source
Note: You choose from four fixed combinations of cores and memory, and anything else comes back as the nearest shape.
docs-confirmed “4 vCPU is the ceiling on every instance type.” Source
Note: There are four fixed sizes and no way to ask for anything between them.
docs-confirmed “default is the size that other providers call medium.” Source
Note: There are four fixed sizes; naming either cores or memory picks the pair.
docs-confirmed “Naming either dimension picks the size” Source
Note: Each plan sells fixed pairs of cores and memory, and any other combination is refused.
docs-confirmed “4 vCPUs and 8 GiB of memory by default, the only size on the free plan.” Source
Note: There are three fixed sizes and no custom option.
docs-confirmed “Choose a size when you create a sandbox: Small (2 vCPU / 4 GB), Medium (4 vCPU / 8 GB, the default), or Large (8 vCPU / 16 GB).” Source
Note: There are four fixed sizes and no custom size.
docs-confirmed “Moving to a smaller size isn't supported yet.” Source
Note: There is one shape: 8 cores, memory assigned automatically, and no choice.
docs-confirmed “The vCPU count and the storage ceiling are fixed; memory is handled automatically.” Source
