CapabilitiesSizes and regions
Choose the region
You decide which part of the world the machine runs in.
Short answer: 7 of 16 providers offer it fully: Agent 37, Daytona, Lizard, Modal, Sandboxer, Tensorlake and Vercel Sandbox. With a catch: Blaxel and E2B. Checked 29 October 2026.
Who offers it
Part of Sizes, regions and hardware, which explains why it matters.
Fully: Agent 37, Daytona, Lizard, Modal, Sandboxer, Tensorlake and Vercel Sandbox. With a catch: Blaxel and E2B. Not at all: Boat, boxd, Cloudflare Sandbox, InstaBox, Runtime and Sprites.
Europe and India only run the more expensive VM type, and backups stay in the US.
docs-confirmed “us is the only region that runs every instance type.” Source
Graphics sandboxes ignore the region you pick.
docs-confirmed “When creating a sandbox, you can target a specific region, and Daytona schedules the workload on available capacity within that region.” Source
A region in the catalogue does not guarantee room for your size.
docs-confirmed “The current configured regions include US East (Virginia), us-east-1, and EU West (Limburg), eu-west-lim-a.” Source
Choosing a region costs 1.15 times the base price, or 1.75 times for a narrow one.
docs-confirmed “A multiplier on top of our base usage pricing will be applied to any Function or Sandbox that has a container region defined.” Source
New sandboxes go to the region nearest you unless you name one.
docs-confirmed “Run sandboxes in US East (Virginia) or EU Central (Finland).” Source
The choice is a separate EU web address, not a per-machine setting.
docs-confirmed “Tensorlake APIs are available in the EU region to provide data residency and compute in Europe.” Source
docs-confirmed “Vercel Sandbox is available in 19 regions. The default region is iad1.” Source
The catch: Four regions are listed, but not all of them are available to self-service accounts without asking.
docs-confirmed “All regions are not necessarily available in self-service by default.” Source
The catch: Four regions exist, but outside the United States you have to contact support to be switched on.
docs-confirmed “To get access, contact support” Source
Note: Machines run in Germany, Finland or France, and you cannot say which.
Inferred: no region option appears in the CLI or API.
inferred “Sandboxes run on machines in Germany, Finland and France.” Source
Note: There is one region, in Germany, and no way to choose another.
docs-confirmed “On bare-metal servers in Germany, so your machines and their data stay in the EU.” Source
Note: Cloudflare puts each sandbox near the request, and a sandbox cannot be pinned to a location.
docs-confirmed “By default, containers run in the location nearest to the incoming request with a pre-fetched image.” Source
Note: There is no region setting anywhere in the tools or docs, so you cannot ask for a European machine.
inferred “4 vCPUs and 8 GiB of memory by default, the only size on the free plan.” Source
Note: Everything runs in one place, in Virginia in the United States.
docs-confirmed “Everything runs in one region, in Virginia, United States” Source
Note: You cannot choose where a Sprite runs; placement is decided for you.
Third-party community answer; no region setting appears in the docs.
inferred “it’s not currently possible to specify a region when creating a sprite” Source
